To confirm a reservation and legally rent you a vehicle, we collect: your full name, passport number or residency ID, foreign driver’s license details (license number, issuing country, and license class), date of birth, contact information (email, phone number, WhatsApp), your flight number and arrival details for airport pickup coordination, and payment or deposit information (card details or cash deposit records) needed to secure your rental and cover the security deposit. If you request nationwide delivery, we also collect the delivery address you provide.
Why We Collect It
This information is collected because Dominican Republic law requires a licensed rental company to verify a renter’s identity, age (minimum 21), and driving history (minimum 2 years licensed) before renting a vehicle. Payment and deposit information is collected to process your rental payment, hold the required security deposit, and process any deductible if the vehicle is damaged during your rental, consistent with the terms in your rental agreement. Flight and contact information is used solely to coordinate pickup, delivery, and delays.
How We Use Your Information
We use your information to: confirm and process your reservation, verify your identity and eligibility to rent under DR law, coordinate airport or delivery logistics, process payments and refunds, communicate with you about your rental (confirmations, delays, questions), and comply with legal and insurance requirements tied to your rental agreement. We do not use your information for unrelated marketing without your consent, and we do not sell your personal information to third parties.
Who We Share It With
We share limited information only where necessary to operate your rental: with our insurance provider in the event of an accident or damage claim, with payment processors to complete a transaction, and with Dominican authorities (such as the Policia Nacional) if required by law, for example when filing a police report after an accident or theft, as described in our rental agreement. We do not share your passport, license, or payment details with any other third party for marketing or unrelated purposes.
How Long We Keep Your Information
We retain rental records, including identity and payment information tied to a completed rental, for as long as required under Dominican Republic tax, contract, and consumer protection law, and for the duration needed to resolve any outstanding deposit, deductible, or dispute related to your rental. After that period, records are securely deleted or archived in accordance with applicable law.
How We Protect Your Information
Physical documents (passport copies, license copies, signed contracts) are kept in controlled access at our office. Digital records and payment information are handled through secure, access-controlled systems. Access to your information is limited to Primeway staff who need it to process your rental, insurance claims, or legal compliance.
